Friends of Woni Kenya International Inc.

  • Our mission statement is to provide clean drinking water to those in Kenya in the rural areas that now have to walk miles to get it and carry it back. We help them form their Community Based Organizations, help with providing By-Laws to run a business such as a water well, providing water to a community. We advise them on what is to be expected of them as a community, to work for the program. We help with a Geologist to sight a well, we expect an equal amount of women on the board of directors, as the women are the ones who walk the many miles to get the water, so they will know if the well when drilled is operating correct. Friends will visit the village and speak to the community leaders (Elders) regarding when a Geologist comes he will look in many places to see where the best choice is to drill, then the person who’s land it is on must give and or be paid for, a small portion of this to the CBO, and a deed must be presented before the well is drilled, this way the well belongs to the community and not the individual or his family. We follow up with regular visits to make sure things are being done right to make it a sustaining project.
